Tennant Creek

About 50 kms south of Tennant Creek are the Devils Marbles. They were amazing but after the awe inspiring awesomeness of Uluru you kind of went, well they're not that big!
It was pretty impressive the way they all sat on each other.

We got there fairly late in the day so the light was pretty good. I actually spent the whole trip wishing I was a photographer because the images you see are truly brilliant. However, i think no matter how good you are with a lens I dint think you could quite capture the intense colours and feeling of these places.

There were some dream time stories about the Devils Marbles, again it was a place for boys but there were some strong, not all together nice spirits there. People often disappeared from there apparently!

Tennant Creek is a mining town. We stopped at the tourist mine but as it was 6am it wasn't opened! So we took some pictures and headed off!

This is the floral emblem of the Northern Territory, Sturts Desert Rose. We actually saw more of these in Qld than NT! Apparently due to the rain that the interior had gotten this year the wild flowers were the best that they had been for seven years! And we got to see them!

We passed through Mataranka. The homestead the boys are standing in front of is We of the Never Never by Jeannie Gunn. Since I have been home I have read the book and loved it! It was quite hard going to read but the never never is exactly as she describes it.

Mataranka also has thermal springs so the boys hoped in to cool off.

Matthew just touched the side mud wall here and is freaking out!

The boys are watching the water flow away. Again the colour of the water was amazing!
